ON 'CHANGE.

BUSINESS IS QUIET. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND STEADIER Business on the local Sto civ Exchange has quietened down, and turuo"\ cr lias dropped. The announcement of the interim dividend steadied the shares of the Bank of New Zealand, which had been falling, and they sold 3d higher, at £2 6/, after which holders raised their limits to £2 6/6. Buyers for Nationals came in again, and offered £4 2/6. The pastoral section was strong, with buyers for Dalgetys, Goldsbrough, Morts, Loan and Mercantile, National Mortgage, Hirer Plate, Farmers' Auctioneering, all at full late rates. In the mining section Waihis were in demand at £1 5/10 and Grand Junctions at 3/10. There were plenty of buyers for Government stocks but few sellers, and quotations showed little change. Bank Shares Firmer. Bank'shares were firmer at the noon call, buyers raising their offers for most issues. There was a further rising tendency in Bank of New Zealands, reflected in higher limits on both sides of the market. Kauri Timbers continued their recent improvement, and after sales reported at 15/ buyers advanced to 14/8, while sellers stood firm at the market price. New Zealand Breweries showed a further drop, and there was a reduction in sellers' limits, but without attracting offers.
