Mr. George H. Wilson, of Remuera, left by the Limited last evening for Wellington. Dr. H. W. Wilson and Mrs. Wilson returned from south by the express this morning. Mr. E. H. Iforthcroft and Mr. W. J. Holdsworth left by the Limited for Wellington last evening. Mr. R. Emanuel, general manager for New Zealandr for V. B. Mclnnes and Co., left by the Limited last evening for south. Professor W. Riddett and Dr. H. B. Whitehead were passengers by the Limited from Palmerston North this morning. Mr. M. L. Ashby has been appointed acting-secretary of the Auckland Transport Board during the absence of the secretary, Mr. W. St. J. Clarke, on holiday. Major-General W. L. H. Sinclair Burgess, Colonel F. Symon, and Major R. S. Parkes, of the New Zealand Staff Corps, arrived by the express from south this morning. Mr. Albert Spencer, president of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association, left for Wellington last evening Co attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Employers' Federation. Mr. W. L. Wilson, superintendent of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, leaves for Rotorua to-morrow on a month's furlough. His duties will he carried out by the deputy-superintendent, Mr. G. Avenell. Mr. H. Turner, president, Dr. E. P. Neale, secretary, Mr. A. M. Seaman, immediate past president, and Mr. C. F. Bennett, vice-president, of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, are leaving by the Limited this evening. They are attending the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at Wanganui. Mr. Gordon Robb, 8.E., of Auckland, has been appointed to the staff pf Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., at Billingliam-on-Tees, Durham, where a large plant is being built for the production of petrol and oil from coal. Mr. Robb is a former student of the Auckland University College and Canterbury College Schools of Engineering. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of the J. C. Williamson Picture Corporation, Ltd., returned to Wellington yesterday from Australia, where he has completed some important film contracts for his own and associated companies.
