AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. REPORT of past season. FIXTURES FOR 1933-34. The annual meeting of the Auckland lapht and Motor Boat Association was jeld last evening In the squadron rooms, jlit- C. H. Palmer presiding over a full attendance of delegates from the affiliated clubs. The chief business was the arranging of racing dates for the 1033-4 season, which were decided to the satisfaction of all concerned. Tbe annual report commented on the steady progress of yachting and motor boating in spite of the times. The facilities ottered by the various clubs had resalted in increased membership and excellent racing, especially in the small classes. I'he harmonious relations that continue between till affiliated clubs and the friendly spirit of co-operation shown by the holding of combined fixtures was also mentioned. During the year the mullet boat restrictions hud been revised and conditions drawn up for the conduct of small class racing at night. In conference with tie association tne Harbour Hoard had jgreetf to re-condition the boat sheds and slipways in Mechanics' Bay. At the conclusion of the 1933 Sanders Cup Contest Wellington, Canterbury, Otago and Southland formed the -New Zealand Yachting Council to foster and control interproviacial and othe.: yacht and motor boat racing. Guided by the definitely expressed opinions of its affiliated eiubs, the Auckland Association declined to join tMs body. The association believes that the Sanders Cup contests have become largely a matter of boat building ingenuity, rather than one of the relative skill of the crews. In these circumstances the association asked thfr donors of the cup whether they wished thS-cup to be returned to them. Messrs. Walker and Hall, 'Ltd., have asked this t<\.be done and steps to this end are now beifig taken. The strict adherance to the racing rules by nil affiliated clubs was urged. The thanks of the association wefe tendered to the racing officials and retiring delegates. The balance sheet showed receipts totalling fSI 6/9, including £32 7/4 Sanders Cup donations. The cost of sending the cup boat and crew was £32 4/5. The general fund showed a credit balance of £6 7/4, assets exceeding liabilities by £13 8/2. / Mr. Palmer, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sneet, stated that the position was satisfactory, thanks to the loyal support of the delegates, backed up by their clubs. During the past season they had several hard jobs to do, but all were carried out successfully. Mr. Palmer hoped that all owners would take the precaution of having their boats equlppecT with adequate means for life-saving and fire-fighting. Failure In this respect, he felt sure, would result in the Marine Department imposing regulations and annual survey, which would result in more expense. It was hoped to have the Ponsonby boat harbour dredged to enable it to be used at any, state'of the tide. Several delegates congratulated the chairman and secretary on the; full report oi the past season's work and it was adopted unanimously. The following officers were elected for the year:—Chairman, Mr. C. 11. Palmer; vice-chairman, Mr. li H. Northcrof t; lion, secretary and treasurer," Mr. A. J. CoiVhort. auditor, Mr. B. W.
