BUSINESS IS FAiR. BUT BANKS ARE EASIER. BYCKOFT'S REACH £2 A SHARE. A feature of the local Exchange is that bank shaves ave definitely easier. At this morning's call inquiries were less general than had been the ease in recent weeks, but sellers were holding firmly to current limits. Bidding in miscellaneous sections wan less keen, but for popular stocks late values were fully maintained. Thus, Bycroft's, with a sale at £A showed a rise of If. and incidentally set a new high level for this it scrip, which. pavs 9 1-6 per cent per annum dividend. tooth's Breweries steadied after the recent sale at £2 2/6, more being available at that figure. More Active at Noon. Business brightened up during the morning, and there was a good list of sales at the noon call. T Values of bank shares were down, Acw Zealands selling 3d lower and Commercials 2d lower than at the previous sales. There were buyer's still ready to give the reduced price for Commercials, with sellers 2d higher. Jn the mining section the only transfers were, of Okaritos and Waitahu shares, botli reported. Buyers were inclined to pause after the recent i-xoeptional activity, but most of the leadin? dividend-paying industrial shares held their ground well.
