Four Brazilians Killed By
Argentine Patrol. APOLOGY PROMPTLY SENT. BUENOS AYRES, October 17. Dispatches from Santo Tome, Argentina, state that four Brazilians, including two men related to the .Brazilian President's family, were killed on Sunday night when an Argentinian border patrol repulsed a party in a launch that was crossing the Uruguay River from Brazil. Those killed were: Senor Agi Vargas, nephew of the President, Dr. Getulio Vargas; Senor Abbon Motta, cousin of tlio President's wife; the German-born owner of tlio launch, whose name is given as Rosfenbeck, and the launch pilot. An Argentine border guard said tha launch was carrying from San Borjan a group of men, who were armed with rifles and machine-guns, and were believed to have been seeking to release some men held in connection with the kidnapping of a Brazilian political refugee, Colonel Juan Garcia Cunha, on September 18. • The Argentine Government night cabled to its Ambassador in Rio de Janeiro requesting him to present Argentina's condolences to Brazil over the frontier incident. . The Argentine Ministry of Marine has ordered an investigation to be made. Official circles recognise the incident as a grave threat to the harmonious" relations between Brazil and Argentina.
