PONSONBY CLUB. BIGGEST MEETING FOR YEARS. The annual mooting of the Ponsonby Swimming Club last night was attended by the largest gathering of members for several years. There were several now cnembors present, including Mr. Sam Hollander, a former chairman of the Canterbury Swimming Centre, who is better known as the Test Rugby referee. He was welcomed by (he chairman of the meeting, Mr. Trevor .McCarthy.

In appreciation of his services to the club, a presentation of a barometer was made to Mr. Rex Moore by the chairman. MOUNT EDEN CLUB. The fifteenth annual meeting of the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club was held at the Council Chambers on Monday evening, the club president, Mr. T. McNub, presiding. Mr. McNab congratulated the club on the successful season it had had during 1932-33, find wished the club further success for the inclining season.

The report stated that from all aspects tiie past season was the most successful in the club's history. In conjunction with North Shore, the club invited four Australian swimmers. C. Phillips. A'. Besomo, P. Gritliths and <). Griffiths, to visit Auckland. the Australians competing at four carnivals. Although the visit did not show a big financial return, it was felt that the Australians greatly assisted Auckland swimming from an educational point of view.

The membership showed a largo increase over the previous year, the club being one of the strongest in the Dominion. The total for the year was 250, made up as follows: TvC.'-n 30,, Indies 10, boys tr>S, girls 52. Two carnivals were held at the Mount Eilen baths, the first carnival showing a small debit balance, while the second showed a good credit balance. The swimming at both carnivals was of the highest order. 'Clio club was well represented liy many of the members with great success at carnivals arranged by sister clubs.

Several members competed at the Auckland and New Zealand championships. Miss t\ Johnston winning the Auckland and New Zealand junior girls' titles, while Miss .T.

Wciister won the Auckland and New Zealand ladies' breaststroke championships. In winning the Auckland title Miss Webster set a new record of 3.27 breaking Miss (i. Pidgcon's long-standing record of 3.55 1-5. K. Frankham won the Auckland 220 yards, and the New Zealand 100 yards and 220 yards championships, also making a fresh New Zealand 220 yards record of 2.22 15. W. Johnson was runner-up to N. Crump in the Auckland intermediate championships. Miss P.. C'onke was successful in winning the Auckland ladies diving championship for the Regent Cup. The club's team competed in the A section of the Water l'olo Control Hoard's championship. The balance-sheet showed assets totalling £105 and liabilities nil.
