' Acceptances for all events to be run on the first day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's meeting, to be held at Paeroa on October 26 and 2S, on behalf of the Taumarunui Racing Club, will close with the secretary, Sir. H. Poland, Paeroa, or with Messis. Blomfield and Co., Shortlaud Street, Auckland, at- 8 p.m. next Friday. INACCURATE JOCKEYS' BOARD. "Honest Grouch" writes:—As a patron of the Avondale races on Monday last, I would like to voice a protest. Having a high regard for the southern horseman L. J. Ellis, I set out with the intention of having an interest on that jockey's particular mounts for the day. However, in the second race, a horse (Sporting Blood) that had been ridden into a place by L. J. Ellis on Saturday (the first day of the meeting), according to the board, was noticed to have a jockey by the name of "G." Ellis, and the horse dulywon. The same '"G" Ellis was watched by me and many others doing the "hattrick," paying quite handsome dividends, which would have been quite unlikely if it had been widely known that the Ellis quoted was our accomplished southern horseman. As there are only three Ellis' quoted in the "New Zealand Referee" (none of whom has G as his initial) as being registered trainers or jockeys, do you consider it fair on the part of the Avondale Jockey' Club in having its ioekcys' board incorrect? ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. £22 7/6.
