SYNOD ENDS.
COMMITTEES APPOINTED. The Anglican Synod of the Diocese of Auckland was brought to a close last evening, when several resolutions were passed. A resolution of appreciation of the hospitality extended by Archbishop and Mrs. Averill, and the various hosts and hostesses, was also passed. ' The resolutions passed included the following:— "That this synod affirms that Christianity is the only solution of the world crisis, and calls upon all members of the Church to apply themselves to the study and application of Christian principles to modern- political, commercial and social conditions."
"That the archbishop be respectfully requested to consider the possibility of constituting an annual diocesan conference, for the discussion of the problems of the day, for which there is insufficient opportunity at synod." A diocesan missionary committee was appointed as follows: —Canons F. W. Young and F. W. Fancourt, the Revs. G. Coats, J. Draper, A. J. Greenwood, C. F. R. Harrison, P. Houghton, C. Watson, H. B. Wingfield, Mesdames Kenrick and Moreton, Misses Baker and McFarland, Messrs. H. 0. Searle and A. C. Robinson. The following were elected members of the Diocesan Sunday School Board for the ensuing year: —The Revs. R. J. Stanton, W. E. Lush, R. L. Connolly and M. Sullivan, Mother Hannah, Mrs. Wingfield, Misses M. McFarland and McMillan, and Messrs. C. M. Calder, W. N. Jebson, H. E. Smytlieman, P. Waymouth and R. Dyer.
