APPEAL COURT JUDGMENT,
(Bt Tol'-prnpli.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Court of Appeal to-day delivered judgment refusing to grant leave to appeal from a conviction entered by Mr. Justice Herdman. at Auckland, on July 127 last, against Harold Bradley Brownrigg. salesman, on a charge of the theft of£l7. The charge arose out of certain transactions in which the accused, trading as "Overseas Passages, Ltd.," received various sums, among theni being the smm in question, as deposits on passage money to England. The prisoner planned to charter a ship carrying SOO passenigers, the fare being £"2~>.
