THE STANDING COMMITTEE. KEPORT OX OKPHAXS' HOME. Further sittings of the Auckland Anglican Synod were held yesterday. After a conference of clergy, they were entertained by Archbishop Areriil and Mrs. Averill at lunch. The clectii.n of lay members of the standing committee' resulted in the return of Messrs. C. J. Tunks, If. Gilfillan, J. 1?. Llisk. E. D. Wilkinson, H. K. Hesketli. H. C. Robin&ou, H. O. Senile and ,T. W. Court. ■The. following were elected representatives in Genera] Synod;— Clergy": Archdeacons H. A. Hawkins, G. Macniurray and I. W. Simkin. Laity: Messro". A. B. Robertou, C. J. Tunks, *T. X. Sniallwood and -T. Hogben.
The report of the board of management on the Papatoetoe Orphans' Home stated tli.it it had kept within the estimated expenditure, and that the farm showed a larger prolit for the yvir. The income was k-s.s. than had been taop?d for, and tin; '-ut ill interest would in ike a serious reduction in income for the present year. The average number of children in the home was 8.). Einployinent in the country had been found for boys leaving. The health of the children had -bpen good, and the summer caiiip Vad been a great"success.
