LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

ST. GEORGE'S SIXTH MATCH. NEWTON RANGERS AS OPPONENTS. The sixth match in the tour of the St. George team of Sydney will be played at Carlaw Park to-morrow against Newton Rangers, winners of the special challenge competition of the Auckland Rugby League. Much interest is being taken in the fixture and another large attendance is assured. Since their last appearance in the city on Saturday week the visitors have beaten combined club teams In South Auckland and Taranaki, the latter exhibition being fast and open. Although they will be without the services of their Newtown halfback, Mork, and the centre; Tipping, the team is well up to strength, with Fairall taking his place again as hooker. The three-quarter line is a claßsy combination and should be seen to advantage, provided St. George win the ball in the scrums. Auckland patrons are pleased that Newton are being given opportunity to meet the Sydney side, for this young and speedy side, captained by Trevor Hall, has performed with credit during the season. It features the spectacular style of play, the rearguard giving effective support to a strong set of forwards. Til the competitions this year Newton defeated Richmond |in two out of four matches, and Marist, Devonport, l'onsonby and City Rovers in two out of three contests. This record speaks for itself. As both teams wear red and white colours it will be necessary, in the interests of the speV.ators, for the local side to make a change.
