MONEY-MAKING PRISON.
; A penal institution which makes a good profit ie Port Arthur prison. Its inmates are taught tailoring and the making of reed furniture, cabinets, leather and metal goods, which are sold not only in the Kwantung territory of Manchuria, but also in Japan, Korea and Formosa. Last year the prison had an income of 63,000 yen and expenditures of 38,000 yen, netting a profit of 25,000 yen.
