Mr. V. J. Lamer returned from Wei lington this morning.

The Hon. G. TrevetMck leaves for Wellington by the Limited this evening.

Mr. Norman Heath .has been elected rangatira of the Auckland Savage Club for next year.

Lieutenant-Colonel C. Mellor, of Eotorua, arrived yesterday and is staying at the Station Hotel.

Mr. Albert Russell, director of Jas. J. Niven and Co., Ltd., returned from Wellington by this morning's express.

Dr. T. G. Gray, superintendent of the Auckland Mental Hospital, leavee for Wellington by the Limited this evening.

Lieutenant H. B. C. Holmes, formerly of H.M.s. Philomel, left by the Ruahine on Saturday on his return to England. He was accompanied by Mrs. Holmes and Miss V. C. Holmes.

Major E. Puttick, D.5.0., of the New Zealand Staff Corps, who was recently transferred from Auckland to Christchurch, has been promoted to the rank. of lieutenant-colonel.

Mr. E. E. Coghlan, acting-accountant of the money order and savings bank branch of the Wellington G.P.0., has been appointed accountant in the same branch of the Department at Christchurch.

Mr. 11. M. Brown, telegraph supervisor at Wanganui, has been elected unopposed as a member of the Public Service Superannuation Board to represent the contributors belonging to the Post and Telegraph Department.

Mr. E. Dewey and Mr. H. H. Redman, of the London head office staff of the Prudential Assurance Company, have arrived by car from Wellington, via Napier and Taupo. Tliey are accompanied by Mr. C. F. Warren, manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Franklin, who is doing agricultural research at Cambridge University, and Mr. Algar, who has been doing engineering there also, are touring Great Britain by motor cycle together, camping out en route. They have been as far north as Morayshire. Mr. Algar, who is doing electrical engineering work, will also study in London and later on in Chicago before returning to the. Dominion.
