SECOND ROUND
PROFESSIONALS MOVE UP. MEXZIES STILL IN LEAD. The second round of the New Zealand open golf championship, played on Saturday at Titirangi, saw the positions undergo considerable change. 13. 11. Menzies (Auckland) with a 78, maintained his position in the lead, but he is not a competitor in the open. The best round of the day was tliat of H. Blair, the Shirley professional, 72, J. 0. Mclntosh, the unattached professional, following with a 74. J. Weir (Middlemore) and E. S. Douglas (Balmacowan) both professionals, were next with rounds of 76. There were three cards of 77— E. J. Moes (Middlemore), professional* and J. F. Pym (Titahi) and B. V. Wright (Otago), both amateurs. Players with an aggregate for the two rounds of 108, or better, qualified to continue in the final two rounds. Today's play will decide the open champion, and the 32 amateurs and 16 professionals are to contest their respective championships. The Scores. Tie scores for the two rounds were:—Total. B. H.
