WORLD ACTION.
JEWISH REFUGEES.
Appeal To Governments To Find Employment.
DOMINIONS ASKED TO HELP. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 11.30 a.m.) GENEVA, October 0. The sub-committee set up by the League which is considering the position of Jewish refugees, has decided that the matter is urgent and can only be solved by international cooperation. It has recommended the appointment of a High Commissioner with full freedom of action, arid it is also suggested that the League advance a sum of money for immediate needs.
It has appealed to every Government to facilitate the employment of refugees.
A further suggestion is that Sir Austen Chamberlain should act as the League High Commissioner to deal with the problem of the Jewish refugees. Viscount Cecil was offered the post, but suggested Sir Austen Chamberlain.
A London message says that Canada has intimated that it is not able to accept the obligation to receivc refugee Jewish immigrants. Australia and New Zealand are so far silent on the subject.
