RECONCILIATION.
RATANA'S BOYCOTT.
PATEA BUSINESS PEOPLE.
MODEL VILLAGE SUPPLIES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Ratana's boycott of Patea business people has been lifted and a reconciliation with the Mayor has been effected. Some time ago the Maori prophet arrived with a large party of followers and camped on a hill overlooking the town with the intention of building a
model Maori village as a memorial to Turi, liis famous navigator ancestor. There followed a long argument over his right to the site with a meat company, of which the Mayor, Mr. F. Ramsbottom, is cliairman. Then Ratana was convicted of intoxication while in charge or a motor car. The upshot was that Ratana and his followers tioycotted Patea so far as the purcnase or supplies and materials for the modal village was concerned. The work on the village lias proceeded for some time. Now, as the result of mediation, reconciliation has been effected and the ban lifted. Large quantities of supplies and materials have been purchased in the town. Yesterday Ratana's camp was almost deserted, the "prophet" having left with a party of 100 followers to attend a tangi for King Mahuta. They will return soon and continue building a temple and meeting house before starting on model whares.
