The words and music of "God Save the Kin™ - ' were printed in the "Gentleman's Magazine" in October, 1745. Both the tune and the words were evolved out of earlier forms. It was said to have first been sung by Henry Carey in 1740, but there is no proof of the tradition. The earliest known form of the air was one attributed to John Bull, the composer, in 1(519.
