CYCLING IN TASMANIA.
Breaking away from a bunch of ten riders 200 yards from the finishing line, •J. Doyle, the 18-year-old Launceston lad, won Tasmania's road race, Burnie Barnet Glass Fifty, carrying cash prizes and trophies valued at £100, on September 23. The other nine flashed over the line in a bunch, the minor placings froing to L. V. Fisher (Hobart) and L. J. Kosc (Wynyard). A large crowd cheered the winner over the line.
Frank Smith, the well-known Launceston cyclist, rode a wonderful race to gain fastest time, and finished only 1.-4.'! behind (lie winner, thus winning The "Sporting Globe" sash. He covered the distance in 21i lDm Ss.
