AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB.
The Spring Meeting.—First Day's Acceptances.
The spring meeting of the Avondale Jockey Club will open at Avondale next Saturday and conclude on tho following Monday. Acceptances for the first day closed yesterday, and the response by oinicrs was most gratifying, for excellent fields are engaged throughout, and there should bo some very fine racing.
Thirteen remain in the Avondale Cup, and the majority of them liavo good form to their credit. Tlio Champion Plate has drawn :i simllai' number of acceptors, and it should also provide a food contest, while cloven arc engaged in the Firing Handicap. It only requires fine weather to make the day ono of the most successful for some seasons past.
