Glen Innes' One-Goal Win
Over Onehunga.
A bright sun with a light breeze made ideal conditions at Waikaraka Park, this afternoon, and a lively and interesting game resulted from the meeting of Glen Innes and Oneliunga. The teams lined out as follows: Onehunga : Parks, Webster, Showier. Kenton, Dick, Davis, Freeman, Woodall, Clark, Forrester. J. Donaldson. Glen Innes: Warren, 11. Stone, It. Stoue, Spry. Gay.' Flashman, Glaister, jy. Welch, E. Welch, Darwin, Adams, Morgan. Referee : Mr. W. Austin. Dick won the toss, and Glen Innes kicked iff against the sun and presesd, but Webster cleared, and Clark made ground, bl.t 11. Stone cleared, and sent Glaister away for Onehunga to concede a corner. Flashman sent over. Glen Innes kept up the pressure until Kenton relieved, and crossed to Clark. ■T. Donaldson testing Warren. Give and take play followed, with Warren having more to do than Parks. Davis beat Spry, and sen ta nice pass to Clark, who had an open goal, but over-ran the leather, and H. Stone cleared to Gay. who let Glaister away, but his centre went a-begging. Webster cleared to Woodhall. who sent out (o Freeman, the latter working himself into a good position when It. Stone pushed him in the back, and Dick made no mistake with the penalfy kick. Onehunga 1. Glen Innes 0. Half-time arrived shortly afterwards. J
On resuming- Onehungn pressed, rind Freeman beat E. Stone. His centre beat both goalie and the forwards on the bounce and Flashman made the play for R. Welsh to score with a beautiful shot. Prom the kickoff Onehunga ran through and Freeman snapped in a first-timer which found the post. Spry took the ball down field, but Webster stopped the raid and Davis sent a nice pass to J. Donaldson, whose long shot beat Warren. Glen Innes were playing a hard game and were forcing several corners, from one of which It. Welsh headed the equaliser. The game continued at a fast pace and Warren made a fine save from Clark at the expense of a. corner. Glen Innes took up tho load from a shot from Glaister, after Parks had cleared under pressure. .T. Donaldson was playing a good game and with Forrester was keeping Warren busv, but they could not gain the equaliser, rlay was swinging from end to end and was full of exciting incidents from start to finish. The final score was: Glon Tnncs 3 Onehunga 2
