Ponsonby Drop One Point —Abels Draw With Leaders —Thistle Have Easy Win Against Comrades —New Lynn Upset Tramways Calculations -— Glen Innes Beat Onehunga In Hard Game — Shore United Too Good For Y.M.C.A.
One of the most disappointing main games on Blandford Parle this season was the meeting of Thistle cind Comrades, when the former registered an easy victory by eight goals to three. The Scots were never troubled, and by their play indicated that they did not take the opposition at all seriously. As a curtain-raiser Abels and Ponsonby had a really strenuous encounter for mastery, and in the end the points were divided. At Onehunga Shore United defeated Y.M.C.A. in the last game for each club this season, and the standard of play was fully significant of this fact. Onehunga and Glen Innes, on the other hand, played a really hard game, for the latter to win by the odd goal in five. At New Lynn the locals, in a dashing display, defeated Tramways by the comfortable margin of four goals.
