HOW TO GET RID OF SORREL.
A correspondent at Waipu ■writes:—ln tlio "Star" Supplement of lGtli inst., E. G., Devonport asks "How to get rid of Sorrel?" A sure way is to smother it. Cover the sorrel with sacks, hay, teatree or fern —in fact anything that will keep the air out. Each spring, in digging my garden, I found a plot. I had a surplus of weeds, so I moved some of them there and covered the sorrel with about six inches in depth of the weeds. A few months ago I dug the ground, and there is not a vestige of sorrel to be seen. I have used smothering for years. 1
