"THE MASQUERADER."

RONALD COLMAN'S LAST FILM.

Ronald Column will shortly make his last screen appearance in "The Masqucrader," the final picture of a brilliant series of screen triumphs that began with the- "White Sister" and continued through "Beau Geste," "Stella Dallas," "Bulldog Dnimmond," "Condemned," "Rallies," and "Arrowsmith." After "The Masquerader" there will not be another Column picture for some time, according to report. Mr. Colman has gono to the Aegean Sea to spend the summer, sailing the Hellenic waters far from the thought of films.

There is a history to the thrill and heart-throb of "The Masquerader." Years ago, "John Chileote, M.P.," the novel from which the play was adapted, was one of the most widely-read novels published, running into hundreds of thousands in England and America. It became a play in which Guy Bates Post toured the world for six years, appearing in nearly every city where English is spoken. Samuel Goldwyn lias now brought the famous romantic drama up to date. Ronald Colman in the central dual role is concerned with the great problems of England to-day—unemploy-ment, labour troubles, strikes and iinancial crisis. The s'tory centres round the strange human problem of two men so closely resembling each other that a woman is unable to recognise her lius-

band in licr lover, and is unable to accept as her husband the man she loved and married. Co]man is supported by a very strong cast that includes lilissa Landi and Juliette Coinpton. The picturo was directed by Richard Wallace, and contains some notable sequences of the British House of Commons in session.
