MANAWATU LADIES' TITLE.
VICTORY FOR MISS KAY.

PALMERSTOX NORTH, Friday
The Manawatu ladies' golf championship tournament was continued in line weather, although a troublesome wind created ditliculties for sonic players. A feature of the morning's play was the breaking of tlie course record of 77 by Miss Oliver Kay by one stroke. Ihe record was formerly held by Miss Bessie Gaisford. „ , , . The semi-finals of the championship resulted: —Miss Kay beat Miss Buy, 7 and 0; Miss Gaisford beat Mrs. Stout, 5 and 3. Miss Gaisford encountered lour stymies in the first ten holes, but successfully negotiated them, her putting being a brilliant, feature. „ , ~ J n the final Miss Kay beat Miss Gaisford, 2 and 1. There was plenty ot trouble on the closely-trapped course in the heavy wind, Miss Gaisford particularly finding bunkers with her seconds. blie trailed Miss Kay to the fourteenth, drawing level at the fifteenth, but lost the next two and the match through lack of direction.
