NATIONAL RESERVE.
| Tlie 15th annual meeting of the | Women's National Reserve was field at Bishopscourt, but owing to illness Mrs. Averill, the patroness, was unable to 1)0 present, and : General Sir George Richardson presided. A substantial credit balance was sliown. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mrfii Averillj president, Mrs. Fitchett; Keillor vice-president, Mrs. J. Cook, J.P; vice-presidents. Mesdames H. R. Hesketh, McGarry, Gulliver; honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss Olgar Paykelj 8.A.; committee, Mesdames Clinton Savage, J. King, Allen, Derrick, Miss Donald. A voto of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the iate Mrs. Bettany, who had beeli a keen and enthusiastic worker for the society and a member of the committee since Its inception. General Richardson in the course of his remarks told the members how he as a soldier appreciated the work of the society. He stressed the fact that during the war all philanthropic societies had united in the effort of helping their country in the hour of need, and he felt that now, during peace, there was just as great a need for co-ordination to formulate some scheme to banish unemployment. He especially emphasised the good work the reserve was doing in visiting the patients in mental hospitals, and complimented members on their credit balance.
