RAILWAYS MAGAZINE.
A bright attractiveness again draws attention to the Otcobcr issue of the New Zealand Railways Magazine, which j has just been published. As a magazine for light reading alone it is well worth while. The special articles, judiciously selected, provide pleasant reading for all tastes. In no case is the entertainment value sacrificed to publicity for our scenic resorts. Indeed, it is not often that tourists are appealed to in such a chatty style. A good precis of the wonderland in which we live is supplied by Leo Fanning, ancl there are well reproduced photographs.
New Zealand poetry is also published. The outstanding effort is from the pen of Ken Alexander, whose lines "Rotten Row" head a list of six other good contributions. Edith L. Kerr, M.A., writes in defence of New Zealand literature, and a further article on "Famous New Zealanders" deals with the adventurous life of Commander F. A. Worsley, D.5.0., K.N.R.
