DANTE ON SATURDAY.

AUCKLAND SEASON TO START.

The second visit of the famous Danish magician, l)ante, known as Jansen rthe Great on his previous visit here 21 years ago, will commence at His Majesty's next Saturday. A southern reviewer writes thus of Dante's performance; "Hie is a mill for miracles, and for nearly three hours he keeps his audience bewijdered by the rapidity of his amazing feats. His performance opens with what is described as fifteen surprises in as many seconds; it ia so fast that one newspaper remarked that if you turn to nod to a friend you miss a trick." A Melbourne journal states: "Live ducks and geese, also flowers, are •produced from unexpected places, and live pigeons are caught in the hand after having materialised in space. Then follows in rapid succession ever greater mysteries. From a 'rag and a bone and a hank of hair' the magician creates a beautiful girl. He causes articles to float in space; he illustrates a seeming paradox that a man can be in two places at the one time, and then produces gallons of sparkling ale from an 'empty' cask. This is distributed among the patrons of tha theatre. There was no .protest from tha anti-vivisectionists when he calmly pro" ceeds to saw a young woman in two alter placing her in a box. The halves a'<? [ pulled apart, and as the magician P between them the 'victim , car ' - ara moving both hands and fee , divided ! protruding from the ends of the ai I box."
