MARKET'S HEALTHY TONE

GOVERNMENT STOCKS IN DEMAND

At the morning's call the chief feature •was a keen demand for Government stock, in consequence of which values showed a iirirjing tendency in all issues.

In the banking section New Zealand* were steady, and after a eale at £2 7/10 there were' still buyers in at that figure. Outside a few special sections bidding was somewhat quiet, with few alterations in values.

The City editor of the "Times" says the Australian Budget resulted in the anticipated rise in Australian securities on the London Stock Exchange, including banks and commercial concerns.
