COURSING.
New Zealand Challenge Slakes. —Preliminary Rounds. Tn beautiful weather, the Auckland Coursing Club ran off the preliminary courses of the New Zealand Challenge Stakes at the enclosure on the Auckland Trotting Club's property at Otahnhii. yesterday afternoon. Some keen coursing was witnessed by a fair attendance, and at the end of the day J. Robertson's Mickey the Mouse, K. Smnrdon'M King Papb, A. W. Phlllmore's Ked Slindow, and J, Shore's Lady Commoner were left to contest the final stupes of the stakes this afternoon. The unplaced dogs in yesterday's racing will t>e eligible to run in the Consolation Stakes, which also will be decided during tin- afternoon. Tho results of yesterday's coursing are as follows:— First Round.—First course: A. Balrd's Rothwell, 6 points, beat 11. Boyle's Hurricane Zone, 2 points. Second course: J. Robertson's Mickey the Mouse, 3 points, bent W. Combe's Gold Jacket, 0 points. Third course: J. Shore's Black Bat, 2 points beat C.. J. Collins' Lady Pam, O points Fourth course: K. Sraardon's King Paph (this year's winner of the New Zealand Waterloo run nt Waitara), 2 points, beat A. Douglas' Lightning, O points. Fifth course: M. Fletcher's Master Fearnought 2 points, beat T. Brain's Storm King. 1 point. Sixth course: A. W. Phillmore's Red Shadow, 3 points, beat W. Arnold's Indian ■Chief, 0 points. - Seventh course: R. Thompson's Some Boy, 5. points, beat W. Bennett's Snow Hope, 0 points. Eighth course: J. Shore's Lady Commoner, 4 points, beat O. Bett's Orange and Blue, 3 points. Second round.—First course: Mickey the Mouse, 5 points, beat Rothwell, 0 points. Second course King Paph, 4 points, beat Black Bat, 1 point. Third course: Red Shadow, 4 points, beat Master Fearnought. Fourth course: Lady Commoner, 5 points beat Some Boy, 1 point.
In the semi-finals, King Paph is bracketed with Mickey the Mouse and Red Shadow with Lady Commoner.
