! RUSSIAN YOUTH. NEW BUCHAN ROMANCE. On page ono "Cyrano" reviews Mr. Rudyard Kipling's "Souvenirs of France." Mrs. Andrew Lang, wife of Andrew Lang (who died over twenty years ago), died in July at the age of 82. She helped her husband considerably in his literary work, and was an authority on folk-lore.

The death of Mr. George Robertson, head of tho firm of Angus and Robertson, is a severe loss to Australian letters. Mr. Robertson came out from Britain to New Zealand for his health, and spent some time in the bush. lie started in the bookselling business by selling books from a barrow in Dunedin. Angue an 1 Robertson are the loading bookselling and publishing firm in Australia, and within recent years their 'publishing activities have been steadily extended. Tho number of books received from the company for review in New Zealand newspaper offices is proof of their enterprise, which must be encouraging to Australian writers. The fir.n has been associated with most of the leading writers, and it has published such national works as the "Australian Encyclopedia " and the monumental history of Australia's part in tho war. Mr. Robertson was a book lover who took a keen personal interest in new literature, and his courteous disposition was appreciated by a wide circle of friends.
