TWO RETIREMENTS.
PUBLIC SERVICE OFFICIALS.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. After 40 years' service, Mr. W. J. Gow, second assistant secretary in the Post jand Telegraph Department, retired to- ! day and was farewelled by a large number of officers of all branches of the Department. In the absence of the PostmasterGeneral, the Hon. A. Hamilton, the secretary, Mr. G. McNamara, presented Mr. Gow with a radio set and a travelling bag, and Mrs. Gow with a handbag. Mr? Gow intends to live in Auckland. Mr. S. Gambrill, senior clerk in the head office of the Department of Lands and Survey, has been promoted chief clerk to succeed Mr. J. R. MacCormick, who has retired after 40 years' service. Mr. R. W. Cooper lia<s been appointed to succeed Mr. Gambrill as senior clerk. Mr. MacCormick was farewelled by the staff to-day. He carried out a large amount of important work in connection with the consolidation of the land laws in 1924 and 1925. i
