BAPTIST COLLEGE.

The first tea for associates of the Baptist College was held in the Y.M.C.A. building last evening. The purpose of the function was the deepening of interest in the college, and was encouragingly successful. The deputy-chairman of the committee, Mr. W. H. Newton, presided, and speeches were delivered by the principal, the Rev. J. J. North, D.D., by the secretary of the Baptist Union, the Rev. M. W. P. Lascelles, by the Rev. R. L. Fursdon, a foundation student, and by Messrs. Samuel Barry and the students' prefect, Mr. F. L. Smart. The chairman of the committee, Mr. P. N. Andrews, and Mr. H. H. Dearsly sent greetings. Mr. Vernon Drew led the community sing. The secretary of the college, the Rev. H. Knowles Kempton, appealed for enrolment, and 30 responded.
