WATER IN MILK.
FARMER FINED £4. "Persons charged with these offences nlwavs find some sort of excuse," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, when he lined Thomas Coath, a fanner, £4 and costs on two charges of having water in his milk. A Health Department inspector said defendant had been supplying milk to a vendor, and as the result of a test, watered milk was traced to his farm. Coath explained that it was his practice to put water through his machines before milking. He had been taught to do that by an instructor. It was an oversight that water had been left in the machines, or in a container. Mr. McKean: It must be quite a profitable thing when you loave 12 per cent of water in the machines. The inspector said that 12 per cent of water had been found in a 12-gallon can.
