THEFT CHARGES.
LABOURER SENT TO GAOL. The theft of a rim, tyre, and tube, valued at £5, on August 25, and an overcoat, valued at £4 10/, on July 24, were charges brought against Lionel George Hood, aged 36, in the Police Court this morning. Hood pleaded guilty. It was stated by Detective-Sergeant O'Sullivan that Hood stole the overcoat from a boardinghouse in Victoria Street on July 24 and pawned it for 15/. He lost the pawn ticket and the coat was later redeemed by someone else. The tyre, rim, and tube were stolen by him from a van in the street, and Hood was found trying to dispose of them. Hood's only comment was that he had been on a drinking bout.
He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
