HENDERSON NEWS.
A dramatic entertainment consisting of a comedy-operetta entitled "A Nautical Knot" was given by the Henderson Dramatic and Musical Society on Monday night. The comedy was appropriately staged, the various choruses rendered under the leadership of Mr. W. N. Ingram, with Miss Phyllis Roberts as pianist, were well received, and the lovemaking of the sons of the sea caused much amusement. The duet, "Life Is Full of Ups and Downs," sung by Miss Parr and Mr. McFadden, and the dancing of the Sailors' Hornpipe by the Misses Valerie Jackson and Merle Purdie received welldeserved encores. The principal characters were taken by the Misses Parr and E. Roberts, Messrs. G. Allely, R. Allen, McFadden, D. Robertson, D. Haslip, B. Harrison, Mrs. Bond, Miss J. Harper aud Miss N. Ash ton. The Church of the Holy Cross, Henderson, held a card party, "500" tournament and competition in the new convent school on Monday night, when about 30 members and friends were present. The winners were Mrs. J. McCorinick 1, Mrs. R. Hughes 2, Mr. L. Reanney 1, Mr. F. Nasey 2. The competition was won by Mrs. T. Keary. These functions are held to raise funds for extinguishing the debt on the school.
