ROTORUA GOLF.

THE THIRD ROUND. NO SURPRISES THIS MORNING lusk only aucklandeb left (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star. ) ROTORUA, this day. The lxotorua annual golf tournament was continued in summer-like weather this morning, play comprising the third round of the scratch and handicap events. After "the mornings play Harold Lusk was'the only Aucklander leit in the open event. The championship produced two evenly Idisputed games, which ended at tlie seventeenth hole, and two others terminating in substantial victories, each windiii" up at the short fifteenth. Ie results°of this morning's play leaves H. B. Lusk and A. B. Barnes-Graham in one semi-final and F. Fryer and M. Moore m the other. Fryer, the 1007 and 190S All Black footballer, was a hard proposition last year. Tho two Aueklanders, Lusk and Raingcr, looked like providing a good contest, but after the sixth hole Lusk played the better golf and reached tile turn up. Playing the first two holes faultlessly, Lusk got an early lead on Rainger, who took three to reach the first green, and then missed a 10ft putt. He misjudged the green at the next, failing to get down in two putts from tho edge. Lusk got foul of a bunker at tho third and with the hole a certainty for hi in, Raingcr gave the small gallery a thrill by holing a 50-footer for a two and a half. A stymie gave Rainger the win at the next in 5, both being in tho bunkers with their second shots. The borrow on the green robbed Rainger of a likely, win in 4 at the next. After halving tho short sixth, where tho game was square, Rainger topped his drive, and Lusk registered an orthodox 5. Rainger failed with his fairway shot at tho tenth, and Lusk increased his lead. Both played the eleventh well, and narrowly missed getting down in one putt. When Lusk was bunkered Rainger took the next hole, but it was only on sufferance, as ho made errors from the tee at the two succeeding holes.

Dodgshun started off with a brilliant three against Moore, but the Wellingtonian retaliated with , a similar effort at the third to square the game. It was not until the seventh green was reached that there ,was any change in the game. At this long hole "(bogey 5) Moore holed a put from the edge of the green to win in four. He increased his lead at the next, and made a great recovery at the ninth, from the Crater, to halve in three. Laying his opponent a stymie at the tenth, Moore got a three up lead, and though Dodgehun reduced the margin at the eleventh, Moore cluiclied the match by winning three in a row from the thirteenth.
