BROKERS FAIRLY BUSY. MINING SHADES SOAR. WAIHIS AT £1 5/9. On an active market at this morning's -call the busiest section was that devoted to mining scrip. Under strong buying pressure Vv aihis moved up to XI 5/9, while Consolidated Gold changed hands at 17/, a rise of 1/S since the last sale ten davs ago and of 5/ since July. Pastoral shares showed the effect of the rise in wool prices. Goldsbrougli, Morts ■were in demand at £1. S/9, with holders reserves up to £1 9/0. The banking section was comparatively quiet. X'ew South Wales were quoted ex dividend, with sellers at £32 12/0. Buyers for Bycroft's advanced their offers to £ 1 17/0. Good Values at Noon. Good business was done and values were well maintained at the noon call. Transactions in Staples' Brewery scrip during the morning showed rises in the price to 9d higher. There were fewer transfers in the mining section, but quotations showed little variation. SALES COMPLETED. AT THE 3.15 P.M. CALL YESTERDAY— Last Sale.
