WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
NGARUAWAHIA. A meeting was held on August 15, when the president complimented members on the success of both the birthday afternoon and social. A demonstration was given by two lady members of St. John Ambulance Association, from Huntly, on first aid. The roll call was, "Household Hints." In the competition for something made from one yard of cretonne, Mrs. Gerraud was" firet with a stocking bag, and Mrs. Walker second with an apron. It was decided to cooperate with sister institutes and contribute Id per member to the GovernorCieneral's special appeal for the winter fund. The hostesses were 'Mesdames McKinder, Hutt and Miss Butcher.
