Mapp, had a 1 narrow escape from being burned to T death when the house occupied by Mr. 1 Mapp, in which Mr. Brown was the sole occupant, was burned to the ground. j Mr. Mapp, with his wife and a friend, left the home in Radnor Road to attend , a concert and dance at Toko: Mr. "Brown was sleeping in a room behind 1 the kitchen and he was awakened by ' breaking glass to find the room full of > smoke and the whole house a raging furnace. In order to get out of the window lie had to fight his way through the burning kitchen, and just as he escaped the roof fell in. ' The fire is believed to have started i in the dining room in the middle of the • house, where, there was a fire in the j grate prior to the Mapps going out. I The building, which was of- eight . rooms, is a total loss. It was insured, but Mr. Mapp is a heavy loser.
