RELIEF AT THAMES.
QUEEN CARNIVAL POSTPONED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, Tuesday. A meeting of organisers and others interested in the Thames queen carnival for the relief of distress decided, in view of etrong opposition, particularly from the business community, to postpone the carnival until later in the season. The urgent need for relief "was emphasised, and it was aleo stated that funds in hand would enable the committee to continue the present scale of relief (about £8 per week) till December. . It was pointed out that many cases were dealt with by the committee, which it wae thought should be attended to by the Charitable Aid Board.
