RUGBY LEAGUE.
EARLY DEMAND FOR NEW BOOK. Much interest has been evinced by the sporting public of New Zealand in the issue this week of the first Rugby League football annual, and, since the announcement about the publication in the "Auckland Star" on Saturday, inquiries and orders have come from all over the North Island. As the book is a comprehensive national reference work, doubtless there will bo similar interest in it in the South Island, where the code has a growing number of adherents. The book, edited by Mr. Eric Bennetts, a founder of the Otago Rugby League and an ardent supporter of the game, covers the varied history of this form of Rugby from its inception, following the tour of England of the 1905 Rugby Union All Blacks, and the subsequent venture of the New Zealand All Golds. A feature is the survey of minutes of the New Zealand Rugby League, Auckland and South Auckland. Leagues, thus ensuring that names, deliberations and events appear in chronological order.
