GIRL GUIDES' DRIVE.
COLLECTION MADE TO-DAY. EFFORT WELL ORGANISED. Splendid organisation was shown today when a food drive by the Girl Guides of Auckland was carried out. A wide variety of food stuffs was collected, pots of jam being much in evidence. For the purpose of the drive, the city and suburbs were allocated to various groups of guides, and the girls, in uniform, made an early start. The food was gathered by the girls, sent to handy depots, and then taken to the main depot in Grey Avenue", where, by midday, hundreds of packages of food of all kinds had been gathered. The food was spread out and classified on tables. There were piles of tinned food, rows of jam pots, paper bags, with bulging contents, and vegetables. The depot was in charge of Mrs. E. McNair, a member of the Auckland executive, who said there was every indication of the drive r being a great success, and that to-morrow they would be able to distribute it to needy people.,
