WEEK OPENS BRIGHTLY. FAIR LIST OF SALES. At the first call of the -week bidding was steady and confident, with little change from week-end quotations. In the banking section New Zealands were steady after the recent drop, and several parcels were placed at £2 8/6. Consolidated Bricks were again in demand, and after fresh business at 0/3 holders withdrew to 6/9. A parcel of Bycrofts came in, with the vendor asking £1 10/. The mining section attracted considerable attention. Waihis were asked for at £1 4/9, Alexanders at £12/, and Blackwaters at £1 12/0. Okaritos were firm, with buyers at 11/9. Gold Shares Active. Activity in gold shares was the feature of the noon call, four issues being included in the business. Waihi Grand Junctions, with a further rise, touched their peak value for many years, and more were wanted at this level. Mount Lyells were firm, and Okaritos showed another advance.
