AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
GERMAN WINS A DOUBLE. JEWS PAEADE OUTSIDE GROUND. LONDON, August 20. At an athletic meeting at White City, London, on Saturday, Germany beat Britain by 75 points to 59. The German Borchmeyer performed a convincing double by winning the 100 yards and 220 yards events. , ' , Britain halved the track events, but was defeated in all the field events. Superiority in the throwing and jumping events gave the German athletes their vieThere was no untoward incident at the meeting, but Jews paraded outside the ground with anti-Hitlerite placards.
AUCKLAND CLUB.
The winter competitions of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Association were continued on Saturday in the Outer Domain. Results :— 75 Yards Sprint.—Final: A. C. Bridle 1, Tj. H. Johnson 2. H. F. Eigg 3. Time, 7 4-ss. A very good finish. 6000 Yards Steeplechase.—R. R. Webster, *>3 8 1: J. B. Green, 24.1, 2 ; A. Clark, 24.15, 3; Mills, 24.25; McCarthy, Allen, 24.36, dead heat; Thompson, 2G.4, also finished. The winner's net time was 21.33. Allen registered the fastest time in 21.21. Putting the Shot. —L. H. Johnson (17ft 6in) 35ft llin, 1 ; I. M. Thomson (Sft Gin), 35ft Bin, 2; W. Mason (3ft 6in), and J. W. Murphy (Oft), dead-heat, 35ft 7in, ' Throwing the Discus.—A. O. McLean (33ft), 110 ft 10in, 1; l>. H. Johnson (57ft 6in), 119 ft Bin, 2; J. W. 'Murphy (38ft), 119 ft 6Jin, 3. S. Allen, 118 ft lin; R. H. Pow, 117 ft lin. Twenty-five competed in this event.
