PAKURANGA HUNT.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. VALPEEN WINS CUP. TRADESMAN THE DUNEDIN HANDICAP. Beautiful weather prevailed for the annual race meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt at Ellerslie on Saturday. There was a fairly good attendance, the sum of £21,517 going through the totalisator, compared with £20,337 for last year, an increase of £1180.

The Hunt Cup. Ironic, General Lu and Grant's Opal were the defections in the Pakuranga Hunt Cup, leaving five horses to go to the post. Winnagan awas favourite, with Nukutere and Valpeen next best Lacked, the last-named winning comfortably. Winnagan led over the water jump from Valpeen, Mangu King, Nukutere and Zane Grey, and going up the hill the order was Winnagan and Valpeen together, with Mangu King, Zane Grey and Nukutere following. Over the double they were racing in the same order, and a little further on Nukutere was pulled up. Valpeen and Winnagan were still on terms ascending the hill about 30 lengths ahead of Mangu King and Zane Grey, and they raced on the flat in that order, where Valpeen took charge from Winnagan and Zane Grey ran into third place. Valpeen cleared the last fence safely and won by ten lengths from Winnagan, who beat Zane Grey by four lengths, with Mangu King fourth. Defeat of ,J > Kiltowyn. Solarium was not saddled up for the Auckland Handicap, in which Kiltowyn was a warm favourite, with Gigantic aud Tatyoon also well supported. When the field had settled down Kiltowyn was in front from Echo Song, Merry Lap and Beryl Latour. Then came Sandy Dix, Biforin and Gigantic. Crossing the top Echo Song, Kiltowyn and Merry Lap were on terms, the trio being followed by Sandy Dix, Beryl Latour, Gigantic and Biform. Kiltowyn and Echo Song were first into the straight, with Merry Lap, Sandy Dix and Gigantic handy. Then came Biform, Beryl Latour and Tatyoon. A good finish resulted in Gigantic beating Kiltowyn by a neck, with Biform a head away. Echo Song was fourth, followed by v -Sandy Dix, Tatyoon and Beryl Latour. Another for Takanini. Kopurere dropped out of the Ladies Bracelet, in which the bulk o£ the money came for Coachman, Ruby Meteor and Gastronomy, and they finished in the reverse order. Searcher led out of the straight from Glenfield, Ruby Meteor, Gastronomy and London, and along the back the order was Glenfield, Ruby Meteor, Searcher, Gastronomy and Coachman, with London and Aspect next. Ruby Meteor was first into the straight, with' Searcher. Gastronomy and Coachman close up, and in a tight finish Gastronomy beat Ruby Meteor by a neck, with Coachman three-quarters of a length away. Searcher, London and-Aspect were next, with Glenfield some distance away. Won All the Way. Lord Val and Cherry King were the defections in the Dunedin Handicap, and in a good betting race most money came for Tavern Knight, Greek Gold and Tradesman, the last named winning.easily after leading from barrier rise. Itateman began quickly, and when the field had settled down was showing the way to Greek Gold, Chromadyne, Delram Lady Quex, Tavern Knight and Deputy Rukr. Crossing the top Tradesman was bowling along clear of Greek Gold and ChTomldyne, with Tenakoe and Delram next, and he led into the straight from TeTakoe, Greek "Gold, Chromadyne, Lady Quex, Delrain and Deputy Ruler. Lady QW challenged over the last furlong, but hVd no chance with Tradesman who beat her by two and a half lengths, with Chromadvne three-quarters of a length away Greek Gold was fourth, then came ffity Ruler, Delrain Tenakoe, Tavern Knight, Vandyke and Cruachan.
