HOSPITAL AUXILIARY.
Tho monthly council meeting of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary was held on Wednesday, and was presided over by tho vice-president, Mrs. A. D. Campbell. Mrs. T. J. G. Neill reported that the Onehunga branch had worked as usual at the infirmary. A good concert held on the 7th inst. was arranged by Mr. Leo Whitaker. Mrs. Kidd was thanked for a donation of books, which will be used in the sun and sitting rooms. An appeal to the public for unwanted headphones was made, as the infirmary is very short of these, and the wireless is much enjoyed. Mrs. A. E. Upton reported that the Mount Eden senior branch had visited 13 homes in Mount Eden and given orders 'for extra - food and special diet, and Sister Mulcock had given orders to three T.B. cases. Mrs. Lange and helpers had visited the hospital and distributed fruit, jam and literature. Members had also visited the Alexandra Convalescent Home and inspected the wireless installed by their junior branch. Mrs. J. P. Howden reported that last month the city sewing circle had sent 559 garments to St. Helens Hospital and 73 garments to the depot. Mrs. J. R. Whitaker reported that the purchasing and distributing committee had purchased for the depot as requested and sent parcels of cutout garments to Glen Eden, Te Atatu, Henderson, Waiuku, Birkdale, Kohekohe and Titirangi Women's Institutes, and received back parcels of finished garments, which were later sent to the depot. From New Lynn and Waiuku Women's Institutes also big and very acceptable donations had been received. Sister Mulcock reported having helped six T.B. cases outside the Mount Eden district with extra nourishment. She said that she and the patients were both very grateful for what the city sewing circle had done in a case where they had made and sent a cot, mattress and blankets. These were very much appreciated. The depot reported having received miscellaneous donations of 173 garments —from the Mount Eden branch 37 garments, the nurses' branch 141 garments, and from outside workers 54 garments. Distributions had totalled 521 garments. Three patients were taken to their homes. Orders for food were given to 10 people, and 54 families were helped with clothing. The Victoria League again sent a big bundle of. literature, which was very acceptable. Owing to the postponement of the street collection day on account of Prosperity Week, the auxiliary received two spontaneous donations. A lady who always gave 10/ to street collections sent this sum in all the same, and a man gave several men's suits in very good condition, which they were very pleased to receive, as men's wear is always hard to get.
