ANNUAL DANCE.
There was a large attendance at the annual ball of Messrs. John Burns and Company, Ltd., which was held at .the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening. Coloured fairy lights were suspended from the ceiling around the outer edge of the ballroom, casting an attractive glow on the dancers, while bowls of Iceland poppies arranged on tables added charm. During the evening paper hats and balloons were distributed, and novelty dances introduced, the chief attraction beinp the "Prosperity" dance, in which a "Mr. and Mrs. Prosperity" had to be discovered. During the evening an exhibition dance was given by Miss Margaret O'Connor and Mr. Priestly. The ladies on the comnffttee were: Miss Madge McMaster, in a frock of shell pink tucked georgette and lace; Miss M. Adlington, in daffodil georgette with chocolate brown velvet coatee, and Miss D. Robinson, in pomegranate red georgette. Amongrt those present were: Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, black satin with lace wrap; Mrs. A. G. Cooke, petunia georgette; Mrs. Bertram Noakes, ravenswing lace; Mrs. Mervyn Reed, shell pink lace bordered with beige fur; Mrs. G. H. Coster, duchess blue organdie; Mrs. J. C. McMaster, black georgette; Mrs._ A. Bnrgoyne, black georgette and white; Mrs. J. Haysoni, cherry and floral georgette; Mrs. Edgar Taylor, cherry flat crepe; Mrs. J. Wark, shell pink satin; Mrs. G. Wing, black floral georgette; Mrs. J. O'SulHvau, ivory satin; Mrs. J. R. Spieer, black ring velvet; Mrs. A. Guv, ivorv satin; Mrs. F. Palmer, floral geo'rgette; Mrs. R. McWhirter, ivory satin; Mrs. C. D. Warren, apricot satin beaute; Mrs. E. Butler, black and pink georgette; Mrs. F. Pearson, water lily sreen taffeta; Mrs. F. Bartlett, white georgette; Mrs. C. Ingram, coral pink satin; Mrs. R. Cunningham, cherry satin and lace; Mrs. J. H. Martin, Burgundy georgette; Mrs. V. Simpson, scarlet satin beaute; Mrs. Pidgeon, black satin; Mrsf W. R. Jones, sea green satin; Mrs. J. Thomas (Rotorua), black georgette amr broidered with diamante; Mrs. Martin, ivory lace; Mrs. H. Hewson, black georgette with rhinestonc embroideries; Mrs. J. Fraser, flame satin and lace; Mrs. V. Stewart, ivory lace and georgette; Mrs. N. Chiplin," black angel skin lace; Mrs. W. Smith, black chiffon velvet; Mrs. Claude Messenger, black floral taffeta.
