Austrians Reply to Bavarians'
Rifle Fire
APOLOGY TO SWITZERLAND. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 1 p.m<) INNSBRUCK, August 13. There was a clash last night at Ivlobenstcin, where Bavarians crossed the frontier and fired on three Austrians, who were resting while off duty. The latter returned the fire, and it is believed wounded some of their assailants. The Bavarians later fired on gendarmes guarding an ammunition store, but none was injured.
The German Minister to Switzerland has expressed regret "at the Nazis crossing into Swiss territory, near Basle, where the Swiss electricity works were entered on the pretence that a caretaker there was a Communist. A message from Stuttgart says the Nazis allege that Heir Hans Menzcl, Governor of Wurtemburg, was fired at, but not injured, by Austrian soldiers becauso accidentally he stepped across the border.
