Sir George Fowlds returned to Auck land by the Limited this morning.

Mr. C. M. Richwhite leaves for the South by the Limited this evening.

Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Reardon, of Stokes Road, Mount Eden, have gone on a holiday to Australia.

Mr. W. F. Stilwell. S.M., has been appointed to exercise jurisdiction in the Wellington Children's Court. Mr. J. N.! Massey, M.P. for Franklin, arrived in Pukekohe yesterday morning by the express from Wellington. Mr. B. G. Stephens, manager of Turnbull and Jones, Limited, left for the South by the Limited last evening.

Sir James Gunson joined the express from Wellington at Palrnerston North on Saturday, and left the train at Papakura. The Rev. J. J. North, president of the Baptist Union, leaves by the Limited this evening to fulfil engagements in the South Island.

Mr. I. J. Goldsthie, Mayor of One Tree Hill, left by the Limited last evening for Wellington, en route to Christchurch. He expects to return on Friday.

Mr. J. .R. Kecnan, of Hastings, has been appointed assistant manager of the DT.C, Christchurch, and will take up his new duties early in September.

Mr. J. C. Entrican and Mrs. E. M. Moreton, of Auckland, and Mrs. I. M. C. Jones, of Hamilton, have been reappointed to be associated with children's courts.

The Rev. L. A. North, of Christchurch, arrived in Auckland on Saturday, and will act. as relieving minister at the Baptist Tabernacle until the end of the month.

Dr. J. C. R. Hindenach. formerly of Christchurch, has been appointed medical superintendent of the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London. He took his M.D. degree at the University of Otago in 1931, and while there he gained a medical travelling scholarship. > He was in charge of the Masonic Hospital, London, for some time before he received his present appointment.

Mr. M. A. Carr, who is taking over the management of Hotel Cargen, was ferewelled by over 150 business men and associates in Wellington on Friday evening. Mr. Can- was one of the original members of the Auckland Commercial Travellers' Association, was president of the Wellington association in 1921,, and has been a trustee of the association's blind soldiers and sailors' fund since its inception. He has also acted as president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Orphans' Club, the Central Club, the Associated Clubs of New Zealand, the Wellington Bowling Club, and tho Charley's Aunt Club. He has been a steward of the Wellington Trotting Club, and also Chief Savage of the Savage Club.
