"VENUS, LTD." The members of the Ernest C. Rolls company of musical comedy and comic opera artists will arrive by the Wanganella on Wednesday morning, and they will make their first appearance here at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday next m "Venus, Ltd." "To an audience," wrote a Melbourne critic, "led to expect the most trom an opening number which suggests that the Moulin Rouge anl Folies Bergeres were its cradle, 'Venus, Ltd., proved an unqualified success. The Melbourne stage has never seen a more spectacular production than this presentation, which the management boasts cost £15,000 to stage." The songs, dances, specialty acts, ballets and ensembles, together with the humorous scenes and situations, are said to make it one of the best entertainments ever seen in Australia. Miss Jennie Benson will make her first appearance in New Zealand, and so will Mr. Charles Norman, who has just returned from London. Miss Rene Riano on a previous occasion toured New Zealand with success and since then she has appeared with success in London and New York. An outstanding feature of "Venus, Ltd.," is the-work of a team of Australian girls in a series of unique ballets. The company is also said to include some of Austrnlia'6 most beautiful girls, who were specially selected for their outstanding personalities and appearance. MARIST BROTHERS CONCERT. The maintenance fund of the Marist Brothers' School will benefit from the proceeds of a conceit to be held in the Scots Hall on Thursday next, when items will be supplied by pupils of the school and also by pupils of the Sacred Heart College. A playet, " 'Op o' My Thumb, will be staged by the Reading Circle ot the Auckland Catholic Repertory Society. J. K. JEROME COMEDY. The delightful humour of Jerome K. Jerome'will be heard'in "The New Lady Bantock," which Mr. C. M. McCallum will present on Thursday evening in His Majesty's Theatre, under the auspices of the Diocesan Old Girls' League, and in aid of the Grey Street Sisters' poor fund. SUNDAY CHARITY CONCERT. A varied and enjoyable programme was given by Neville Carlsen's Revue Company in the Lyric Theatre, Symonds Street, hist evening, when proceeds were devoted to the funds of the Down-und-Out Mission. The first part of the concert was in the hands of Mr. Walter Smith's party. The following contributed solo items:--Misses Mavis Sharp, Eileen Trotter, Waratah Wakelin.
